A FROME jazz band has earned the honour of playing at Bath Abbey this month as part of a charity art auction.
The New Academic Feetwarmers, a traditional jazz band based in Frome, were specially asked to perform in Bath Abbey on Wednesday 23rd November from 6.30pm.
The Feetwarmers will play during the viewing before the auction, in aid of the Abbey’s own ‘Footprint’ project to repair the floor and heating, and again after the auction from 8.30pm.
Band leader Norman Leater said, “We are an eight-piece band with trumpet, clarinet, trombone, sax, piano, bass, banjo, and washboard, playing traditional jazz.
“Currently we play each month in The Swan at Bradford on Avon, plus parties, weddings and various events. We have played in churches and a crematorium, but this will be the first time in an abbey!”
