Residents are invited to a film screening of a documentary about what happens when neighbours come together to take power, organised by Frome Town Council.
A screening of Power Station will take place at the Merlin Theatre on Saturday 28th
February at 7pm followed by a post-screening discussion.
Organisers say, “Filmmakers Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn set out to turn their Walthamstow street into a solar-powered mini power station. The film is as much about people as it is about energy, showing how curiosity, creativity and collaboration, with a little daring thrown in, can spark real change.
“After the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a Q&A panel exploring how community energy and local action could work in Frome and what lessons can be learnt from Powell and Edelstyn’s experience.
“Together, the panel, which features Power Station co-director Dan Edelstyn alongside a local councillor and energy experts, will offer audiences practical ideas, real examples and local insight into how community-led energy projects can take shape and what might be possible in Frome.
“Sara Butler brings her experience as a councillor working on Frome’s sustainability and community initiatives, helping residents engage with practical projects and local action that make a real difference in everyday lives
“Dan Edelstyn, co-director of Power Station, will give practical insights into how neighbours can take charge of energy projects
“Howard Johns has worked with towns across the UK to develop local renewable energy projects and brings a wealth of practical experience in turning ambitious ideas into real, community-led change.”
Dan Edelstyn said, “I am excited to be coming to Frome to see how they are approaching community energy locally. The film is rooted in the idea that change starts with people working together, and we’re keen to hear how those conversations are unfolding in different places.”
