A town-wide 24-hour relay is being held this weekend to raise funds for a campaign to save a cancer counselling charity from closure.
The relay will take place at the Old Showfield from 12pm this Saturday, 28th March, to 12pm on Sunday, 29th March. Residents will complete one lap of the fields before handing the baton on to the next person, keeping it moving for 24 hours.
The aim is to raise as much money as possible for We Hear You (WHY), a Frome-based cancer counselling charity which launched an urgent appeal in January to raise £55,000 by 31st March or face closure.
Fundraising ambassador for WHY, Rachel Clark, (pictured) is organising the event and will be completing a marathon over 24 hours by running one mile every hour.
She said the charity has helped generations of Frome people and if it disappears it will be felt in the town ‘for a long time.’
