A Frome resident is preparing to compete in her first-ever bodybuilding competition after losing nearly 10 stone in weight.
Jane Bennett will be taking part in the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation UK (WNBF UK) First Timers event in Dunstable on 7th June. She has entered the Bikini and Figure classes.
After two caesareans and being involved in a car crash when she was younger, Jane says she is ‘fired up’ following extensive training at Frome Leisure Centre.
She said, “I am really excited; the actual journey of doing the training has just really fired me up and I’m thinking, I’m putting a real body up there, my real body that’s been through a lot of life.”

Jane, who works at a local Frome-based counselling charity and is a singer, has lost 9.5 stone over 16 years. After experimenting with various activities and methods to lose weight and get fit, she eventually found her passion in bodybuilding.
“What began as a commitment to move more and feel better gradually evolved into something far more significant,” she said. “Through consistency and determination, I not only achieved my weight loss goals but found myself drawn to strength training, building both physical and mental resilience along the way.
“I didn’t even consider something like bodybuilding when I first started. I was just a bit lost and unsure where to begin improving my health, having tried lots of different approaches that weren’t sustainable.
“I followed a coach on Instagram whose approach really made sense to me, and after a few conversations I signed up to work with Kieran Pierce, who runs KP Health Coaching.
“As the weight started to come off, I realised it wasn’t just about how I looked it was how I felt. Stronger, more focused, more in control.”

Balancing her work, music career and training, Jane says she is continuing to push forward with her goals, proving it is never too late to start something new or challenge your own expectations.
She said, “I started just wanting to feel better. I never imagined where it would lead. You don’t have to have it all figured out you just have to start.”
