Frome’s River Festival is returning to Rodden Meadow on Sunday 28th June, bringing the community together for activities and workshops celebrating the town’s river.
Organised by Frome Families for the Future and Friends of the River Frome, the free event includes river dipping, art activities, live music, Morris dancing and a community procession.
Local band Lorikeet will be playing live music from midday. Nature Voices are running a rap workshop and the Bounds of Selwood Morris dancers will be performing. The day ends with a procession led by special guests Avona plus a locally made surprise puppet.
Organisers said, “Why not bring along your homemade animal mask, banner or puppet to join in the fun. There will be stalls from local organisations working hard to protect and care for the local environment, from monitoring water quality to sustainable fashion.”
Local resident and FutureShed lead at Green and Healthy Frome, Sue Palmer, said, “The atmosphere is always buzzing. It’s one of the annual events in Frome that people love. It’s fun and relaxing. Bring a picnic blanket, pack some lunch and treat yourself to an ice cream sandwich from Hoolies.”
This year’s festival is supported by Green and Healthy Frome and We Are Avon, whose funding has helped make this year’s activities possible.
The event, which takes place from 10am to 2pm, is free to enter. All ages are welcome and no booking is required.
