New conductor takes over at Frome Town Band

A Former cornet player in Frome Town Band has taken over the role of conductor.

Rob Bartlett was appointed following the resignation of previous conductor Roy Dignum, who stepped down to focus on other musical projects.

Although this is his first time conducting a brass band, Rob brings extensive local music experience to the position.

June Walsh from the band said, “Although this is Rob’s first time conducting a brass band, his knowledge of music and his long-standing involvement in the local music scene put him in a strong position to take on the new challenge. His connections with the Frome community are also particularly important to the band, which is keen to continue its work bringing live music to local audiences and making brass banding accessible to people of all ages.”

Rob said, “I’m looking forward to getting involved in every element of brass banding in the community. I was in at the deep end with the performance on the music stage at the Cheese Show and we’ve already started rehearsing for Remembrance and even for our Christmas show.”

The band will support the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Memorial Theatre on Sunday 8th November, before hosting its Christmas concert at the Merlin Theatre on Sunday 13th December.
