Legendary hip-hop and DJ pioneer returns to Frome after nearly a decade away!

One of the most influential figures in music history, Grandmaster Flash, is set to make his long-awaited return to the Cheese & Grain on Friday 30th October as part of his acclaimed Four Elements Tour.

A true pioneer of hip-hop and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Grandmaster Flash is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the genre. His groundbreaking innovations transformed the turntable into a musical instrument, revolutionised DJing and helped lay the foundations for hip-hop culture as we know it today.

“His return to Frome is a major occasion for the town’s music scene,” said Rob Dahl from the Cheese & Grain. “Having previously sold out the Cheese & Grain twice before, the legendary DJ returns for the first time in eight years, bringing one of hip-hop’s most celebrated live experiences back to the venue.

“The Four Elements Tour is far more than a traditional DJ set. Combining Grandmaster Flash’s extraordinary turntable skills with rare archival footage, music and captivating storytelling, the show takes audiences on an immersive journey through the birth and evolution of hip-hop, exploring the four defining elements of the culture: DJing, MCing, B-Boying and Graffiti.

“From the streets of the South Bronx to influencing generations of artists around the world, Grandmaster Flash’s impact on popular music is immeasurable. This is an extremely rare chance to catch the icon live on stage.

“With two previous sell-out performances in Frome, anticipation is expected to be high for the return of one of hip-hop & DJing’s most important and influential pioneers.”
