Two Frome friends have raised more than £2,000 in an ultra-walking challenge for a charity which supports children and families during hospital stays.
David Wye, owner of Domesticare in Keyford, was joined by his friend Elaine Keene for the 50km event in London recently. The pair have completed various challenges over the years and finished the walk in six hours and 42 minutes, their best time yet.
They raised £2,040 for Time is Precious, a volunteer-run charity which helps create a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for children and their families in hospital.
The charity was set up in 2011 by Nicky and Neil Halford MBE in memory of their son Ben, who died from cancer aged five.
David and Elaine recently presented a cheque to Nicky and Neil.
“We would like to thank everyone who very generously donated to this great local charity,” said David and Elaine. “Every penny of the money raised will stay within our community, helping to support children and families who need to visit a healthcare setting.”
