REGULARS at a pub near Frome recently travelled to Wincanton Racecourse to watch their jointly-owned horse run.
Customers of the White Hart at Trudoxhill watched their horse Kristal Hart come second in the Lycetts Bloodstock Insurance Mares’ Hurdle race earlier this month.
The White Hart Racing Syndicate is run by residents of the village and the landlord at the pub.
Kristal Hart was bought by Georgie Symes of Trudoxhill with the intention of riding her as an eventer. Georgie, an experienced horsewoman, quickly realised that she would be better suited to racing.
White Hart landlord, Graeme Barry said, “I was keen to have a racehorse so I floated the idea at the pub and the group, all from the village, decided to give it a go!
“We had a wonderful day at the race and saw her come home in second place, just half a length behind the winner.
“One of the original group that formed the syndicate four years ago, John Hill, never saw Kristal Hart run. The rest of the syndicate have enjoyed some great racing and, this season alone, have been placed third at Lingfield and Wolverhampton and second at Wincanton. She is trained by Neil Mulholland at Limpley Stoke who has no future entries for her at present.”
