AT the end of Christian Aid week, on Sunday 20th May at 4pm, there will be a free concert at Christ Church, with a retiring collection for Christian Aid.
The concert will include piano pieces, solo song, organ and small choir and some readings, a mixture of serious and comic! The concert will last about an hour. There will be refreshments at the end. Everyone is welcome.
So who is William? Ann Burgess, director of music at Christ Church replies, “William Walls was my younger brother. He was a Cambridge organ scholar, a musician and school teacher and sadly he died of cancer 20 years ago when he was 32.
“The performers will be members of William’s family (that is Ann, nephews Gareth, Peter and Tom; Alan and Richard) and William’s friends, David Turner, Virginia Knight and Kath Cooper.)
“He had a great sense of humour,so there’ll be some funny moments as well as some lovely music that he used to play. It won’t be miserable: we just want to remember him in the best way we can, through words and music!”
