RESIDENTS of Frome will have the chance to vote in two elections on Thursday 2nd May.
Frome Town Council and Mendip District Council elections are both being held.
In the Town Council Elections, the town is divided up into 8 areas or ‘wards’ and each ward can elect one or more councillors making a total of 17 councillors. Depending on where you live, you can put one, two or even 3 crosses on your Town Council ballot paper.
The council has been run by the Independents for Frome group since May 2011. In the last elections in May 2015, the Independents won all 17 seats.
In the Mendip District Council Elections, the district is divided up into 34 areas or wards and each ward can elect one or two councillors depending on where you live, making a total of 47 councillors. Eleven of the seats are in Frome.
Since the last Mendip District Council elections in May 2015, the Conservatives have been running the council after winning 31 seats. Other seats were won by Liberal Democrats, 11; Green Party, 3; with one independent.
