FROME Town Football Club is looking forward to kicking back into action with the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Men’s and women’s games are currently suspended with the leagues curtailed until the new season in August. However, the men’s team will start playing again from June, with pre-season friendlies.
The youth teams and development teams started retraining in line with the government and FA’s guidance, with matches following in a few weeks.
A club spokesperson told Frome Times, “The biggest issue is that the club has not stopped over the entire lockdown, as like many other community businesses, the overheads continue and the lockdown has prevented any income to be generated through ‘normal’ avenues with sponsorships rolled over to next year and no turnstile revenues or bar takings.
“However we have offered our season ticker holders a range of options, with the large majority choosing to donate them to the club and they will buy again next season, which has been very humbling.”
This summer will see new events including a large family-focused event and separately an adult football tournament in June/July to try and raise much needed income for the club.
