FROME Musical Theatre Company (FMTC) has celebrated the stars of the local stage at their annual Star Awards.
On Friday 3rd September, the group held their first social event since the Covid-19 outbreak to recognise the successes of their most recent shows, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Blitz! and Beauty & the Beast at a Star Awards presentation evening. Members gathered at the Assembly Rooms for an evening of celebrations and long overdue catch up.

• Best Male Singing Performance: Ed Henderson – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
• Best Female Singing Performance: Nicole Wooldridge – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
• Best Supporting Actress: Izzy King – Blitz!
• Best Supporting Actor: Humphrey Barnes – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
• Best Comic Performance: Daisy Mercedes & Jon O’Loughlin – Chitty Chitty Bang
• Bang/ Beauty & the Beast
• Best Double Act: Ella Evans & Anna Lee – Beauty & the Beast
• Unsung Hero: Victoria Carver – Blitz! Dance Captain
• Outstanding Contribution: The Chitty Car Build Team
• Best Young Female Performer: Millie Weare – Blitz!
• Best Young Male Performer: Owen White – Blitz!
• Best Actress: Daisy Mercedes – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
• Best Actor: Ed Henderson- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
• President’s Award for Under 21s Singing Performance: Abi Baker – Beauty & the Beast
Commendation certificates were also awarded to Chitty’s Jeremy and Jemimas – Noah Hardy, Zachary Green, Evie Saunders and Tilly Haines.
The Frome Musical Theatre Company are now ready to return to the stage and have a busy season ahead at the Frome Memorial Theatre.
The company’s youth group Spellbound are rehearsing for their re-scheduled and eagerly anticipated production of ‘Bugsy Malone’ in the October half term and a traditional family pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ will be performed by the main society in December.
