A FROME resident is seeking sponsorship from local businesses to help him achieve his dream of playing in the prestigious footgolf tournament, the Jansen Cup in America.
Dan James is no amateur when it comes to footgolf, having already picked up a gold medal at the European Championships. But now he is looking for challenges further afield. Dan is hoping local businesses will look to sponsor his trip to America in 2022, which could cost up to £1,000.
Dan said, “I’m a local lad playing footgolf on the UK circuit. I have recently returned from the European footgolf championships with a gold medal as part of the Team UK squad. I took the hobby up when I retired from playing international football.
“Previous to this I played for GB and England as a sighted able-bodied goalkeeper for the Paralympic football five a side discipline.
“I’m looking to see if any local businesses may wish to support this goal. I have only recently moved to the area in the last 18 months and am not well connected.”
This is the third edition of the Jansen Cup, footgolf’s version of the Ryder Cup which is set to take place early next year. Qualification ends on December 31st.
