FROME Selwood Rotary have presented £10,000 to local charities and schools, and a further £1,500 to international charities and organisations.

Amongst the recipients were Frome Community Club, Harry’s Hydro, Selwood Academy, NovaSport, Young People’s Trust for the Environment, YMCA, and Life Education Wessex.
The club reports, “Members celebrated Christmas late this winter by holding their annual festive dinner in January and presenting a total of £10,000 to local charities and schools, as well as £1,500 internationally.
“In making the awards to the charity representatives Guy Parkinson, the club’s president, explained that although Rotarians enjoy the social side, we take our service to the community and fundraising very seriously.
“Members devote a lot of their time supporting local, national and international charities and organisations. Most of the money raised by the club goes locally although support is also given beyond that.
“Rotary is always looking for new members, to enjoy the social side and gain new skills as well as extend its service to the community. There are exciting new initiatives planned for 2022 with Rotary in Frome which would interest anyone who values service to the community.
“Frome Selwood Rotary is part of Rotary International, a worldwide service organisation of 1.3 million members.”
