Dorothy House’s Frome Friends Group triumphed with their sale of raffle tickets at the women-only sponsored 8km Bath Moonlight Walk on Saturday 9th September and raised over £1,200 in funds for local hospice, Dorothy House Hospice Care.
Over 650 women took part in the women-only sponsored 8km Walk, now in its eleventh year. The Walk kicked off at 10pm from the SouthGate Shopping Centre and the walkers enjoyed walking through the beautiful city of Bath at night. The event began with a pre-party from 8pm that included music, stalls and a raffle competition. Butlers in the Buff made an appearance and there was a fun warm-up session before the start.
The raffle competition had an extra special prize donated by Mulberry of a luxury Bayswater handbag which retails at over £1,000. Since 2013, Mulberry has donated a top-of-the-range, luxury handbag as the main raffle prize for the charity’s annual Bath Moonlight Walk and in total these raffles have raised £4,564 in the last five years including £1,200 this year.
Staff at Mulberry in Chilcompton also raised a further £3,992 for the hospice (including matched funding) by taking part in other fundraising activities such as a Dorothy House Fire Walk and a Bake Sale. In total, the Somerset-based Mulberry factory and its staff have helped to raise £8,556 for the hospice over the last five years.
Emily Knight, events fundraiser, Dorothy House Hospice Care said of the raffle competition and Mulberry’s prize donation, “Our Frome Friends Group exceeded all expectations by raising over £1,200 with their sale of raffle tickets on Saturday and we’d like to thank Mulberry for their generous donation of a Bayswater handbag to the Bath Moonlight Walk. Over the years, each year the handbag raffle grows in popularity. Well done to all the walkers who took part in the walk and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.”
