FROME Running Club Juniors took part in the tri-county cross country championships held in Bath last month with runners in the U11 and U13 age groups, both boys and girls, competing against teams from Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset.
“Although they didn’t win any medals, they all enjoyed the events and gained valuable experience for their next cross-country competition,” said Pete Clardy.
“The Frome Running Club Juniors’ programme is open to young people aged 8 to 18 years. Under the guidance of an EA certified coach, the Juniors focus on running events, with the goal of improving overall fitness through activities that involve strength, coordination, speed and endurance.
“Runners practice different running events, including sprinting, hurdling, middle distance and cross country running. The training is open to young athletes of all abilities, including those new to running or runners with more experience.”
Training sessions are held on Tuesdays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. There will be an autumn term, winter term, and a spring term with breaks that follow the school calendar. Registration forms and payment details can be found on the Frome Running Club web page at www.fromerunningclub.co.uk or by email to fromejuniors@gmail.com.
