A FREE food sustainability workshop for young people aged 13 to 18 is being held on Tuesday 13th June from 4pm to 5.30pm at the Cheese and Grain.
The workshop, which is taking place during Frome’s Big Green Week (Saturday 10th June to Sunday 18th June), will explore the impact food production has on our planet and consider the social and economic issues around climate change and human activity.
“Do you have a child aged 13 to 18? Are they interested in knowing more about environmental issues and where their food comes from? Is it really as simple as switching to a plant-based diet?” asks Green and Healthy Frome who are partnering with Science Boost CIC to offer the free food sustainability workshop for young people.
“Together, we’ll consider different points of view, develop our own opinions on this issue and discuss what the future could look like. We’ll also hear from Hugh Thomas, a food writer, about things already happening locally around food sustainability with the Frome Food Network.
“This workshop will develop attendees’ ability to listen respectfully, learn from others’ perspectives and have empathy and compassion to those with differing views to themselves. Participants are encouraged to back themselves up with facts and data as we learn how to have difficult conversations and disagree with one another in a calm and measured way. Orla, who is 14 years old, described our last workshop as, ‘An eye-opening experience, it was really fun!’”.
Tickets are free but spaces are limited. Book now by searching ‘Great Big Green Week Food Sustainability Workshop’ or visit: tinyurl.com/ 5a8k84we
