TWO Frome gymnasts have just returned home after representing Great Britain in the double mini trampoline event last month at the World Age Group Championships in Birmingham.
Izzie Hunt and David Knowles, who are part of the local trampoline club Evolution, finished eighth and 12th respectively in their age groups.
This was the first major international competition for Frome College pupil Izzie, which saw over 1,000 gymnasts from over 40 countries compete across eight days in an event that encapsulated the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championship and the World Age Group Competitions.
Amazing result
Coaches Sarah Hunt and Miikee Selmes said, “Izzie did incredibly well to come eighth in the world – two strong passes and keeping her nerve served her an amazing result. David, a veteran of these events also performed two solid passes to again get a top placing, coming in 12th in his group.
“This is a massive step for Izzie and David and such an achievement to compete at a very rare major home championship. We are beyond proud of their achievements and their work ethic.
Dedication
“To have two performers at this level and achieve such results is a true testimony to their hard work and dedication; we are incredibly proud and looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these young gymnasts.”
