Fair Housing For Frome is hosting a public ‘Call to Action Meeting’ on Monday 30th April at 6.30pm, at Frome Town Hall. The group has recently received significant funding, enabling it to progress its work aimed at addressing the housing crisis facing local people in the town.
The meeting will be looking at ways in which Fair Housing for Frome can increase its numbers with volunteers and new committee members, as well as strengthen connections with partner organisations.
The event will give the people of Frome a chance to see how Fair Housing for Frome works, what they have achieved in their first year and what they hope to achieve in the years ahead.
Fair Housing for Frome (FHfF) is an organisation supporting the provision of decent and genuinely affordable accommodation in Frome for local people on low incomes who are being squeezed out by rising prices. FHfF wants to be an example of how a positive can-do attitude can enable a rural town to maintain a diverse and vibrant community and has recently secured funding to implement the findings of its 2017 consultation events.
Councillor Ali Barclay, who is chair of the new charity said, “Last year we had a great level of interest and involvement from people in the town for our series of public events, with over 180 people taking part. These events generated a range of practical and creative ideas which could really make an impact on housing opportunities in the town. I’m really excited at the prospect of now being able to get some of these great ideas off the ground.”
Trustee, Mel Dalton also said, “The need for genuinely affordable housing in Frome for local people is greater than ever. Just last week our Facebook page was bombarded with messages from families and individuals desperate to be housed.”
The organisation wants as many people as possible to come to the meeting and raise issues or just come and listen and get informed. There will be refreshments and cake!
The Fair Housing for Frome ‘Call to Action’ meeting takes place on Monday 30th April at 6.30-8.30pm at Frome Town Hall.
