A community celebration was hosted by Frome Town Council in Victoria Park to mark its 50th anniversary, featuring live music, children’s entertainment and food.
The event took place on Saturday 10th August and included a range of activities for children such as The Magical Storybox, a music workshop with Sing-a-ling, the Carnival Club’s Thomas train, The Pod’s scrap trolley, and bubbles and garden games in a children’s arena.
Live music was provided by Frome Town Band, Butane Skies, and soloist Millie Steel, followed by a ceilidh with the South West Ceilidh Band. Food options included a barbecue from the Victoria Park community café, wood-fired pizza, a pop-up bar by the Cheese and Grain.
The event was attended by the High Sheriff of Somerset, Rob Beckley, who enjoyed chatting with the many charities and community groups running activities and stalls on the day. Cllr Anita Collier was also present, wearing gold to mark the golden anniversary, along with Mayor Andy Jones and his consort, Anne.
Cllr Anita Collier said, “It was wonderful to see so many people turn out for the community celebration on Saturday and to celebrate 50 years of Frome Town Council with so many of the brilliant organisations that give Frome its unique character and strong community.”
“We look forward to continuing to serve that community for the next 50 years and beyond.”
