SHARE Frome, the town’s Library of Things, is looking for more members of the community to get involved.
From power tools to camping gear, party lighting to PA systems, kids costumes to candy floss machines, SHARE Frome has over 800 items people can borrow to have fun or get a job done.
In April 2022, SHARE Frome Library of Things became a UK registered charity and in September 2022 they separated from Edventure Frome to become an independent venture, owned and run by the community to serve the people and businesses of Frome and the surrounding areas.
In the last 12 months, SHARE Frome has lent 3,564 items to 865 members. It has saved them a total of approximately £122,000 and helped them protect the planet by borrowing and not buying. By not buying, our community has also stopped approximately 102,270kg of new materials from being used.
SHARE Frome has electrical safety tested, repaired and repurposed customer items, giving them new life, and has found new homes for over 200 donations, saving them from landfill. And this element of their work is only just beginning to grow. The potential (with your help) is promising.
In order for SHARE to keep its borrowing services going, organisers say they urgently need more members of the community to volunteer their time.
A SHARE Frome spokesperson said, “Help is needed with the quality assurance, general administration and operational tasks that come with running a busy Library of Things. This could mean as little as a couple of hours a month working from home to playing an integral part in delivering one of the many elements of business that SHARE Frome Library of Things includes.”
If you think you could help secure SHARE’s future for our community by joining their team of volunteers, email Jess at office@sharefrome.org or complete the volunteer form on their website.
SHARE Frome is also currently looking to employ a confident and autonomous Library of Things Assistant to run the shop. If you are interested in finding out more about the job, you can go to https://sharefrome.org/2024/03/05/apply/
