Frome Ladies Club concluded activities for the year with a Christmas dinner at the White Hart, Corsley.
They report, “The evening wound up what has been a successful year where the members had worked together to raise £500 for the Charity of the Year, Freewheelers Blood Bikes.
“In September, the members were served a cream tea and cupcakes by the committee, all money raised going to our charity.
“In October, auctioneer Gareth Wasp gave us an interesting insight of his working life and also very kindly valued items brought in by the members at £1 an item, money raised once again going into our charity. Members also enjoyed a day out at a glassblowing studio in Langport during October where there was also an expert on site who restored ancient books from cathedrals, churches and museums etc from all over the country. The work was painstaking and much admired by all. The second stop of the day was Clark’s Village at Street where members had lunch before going shopping,
“The Christmas Social for the year was held on 27th November when everyone enjoyed a ham and cheese Ploughman’s, desserts and wine before being entertained by singer Chris Stone. The proceeds from the large raffle again going to our charity Freewheelers Blood Bikes. Chairman Christine Cornaby, wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
“The next meeting will be the Annual General Meeting to be held on 26th February.”
