Local insurance broker A-Plan Frome has announced immediate and ongoing support for local food bank charity, Fair Frome.
A-Plan Frome and its clients started the campaign by raising over £100 worth of food and toiletries for the food bank. The branch is now also going to be an official donation point for the charity – housing a ‘food donation station’ for the community to pop in and drop off food items.
In addition to the food donation station, on its own initiative A-Plan Frome will donate £50 to Fair Frome for every new insurance policy taken out with them when a client references Fair Frome’s food bank. To do this, all that a member of the public has to do when contacting the team about their insurance is simply mention the food bank or Fair Frome to the A-Plan team. The donation is then made directly to Fair Frome once the client’s policy goes live.
Daniel Jeffery, commercial account executive from the Frome branch met with Fair Frome’s co-chairs, John Killah and Karen Stewart, to confirm the good news. He said, “We were introduced to Fair Frome when a volunteer of the scheme popped in to talk to us about their own insurance. We quickly realised that this was a charity we wanted to support.
“Everything the charity embodies: community, support, and dedication to helping people – matches our ethos. The work that John, Karen, and the volunteer team at Fair Frome undertake to help those in need in Frome needs to be celebrated. The least we could do is aid them in their efforts to help each other in Frome. We encourage anyone in Frome to help if they can. We know it’s a difficult time, but we also know that our community always springs into action when others need our help.”
A-Plan Frome is collecting non-perishable and toiletry items for the charity in-branch, including tinned foods, rice, sugar, coffee, men and women’s toiletries and more.
Daniel added, “If any members of the public, or A-Plan clients would like to pop into branch and donate items for the food bank we will pass it on to them. You will find us at 51 Catherine Street, Frome, BA11 1DA.
“As part of A-Plan’s national campaign to support the cost-of-living crisis, A-Plan’s branches up and down the country are supporting their local food banks. By using our expansive branch network at a local level, with a focus on supporting our own community, A-Plan plans to have a positive impact on busy food banks, as well other local family charities this year.”
John Killah is one of the joint chair of trustees at the charity and he says he is delighted to have A-Plan on board as a supporter.
“Over the years we have managed to build extensive and strong links with our local business community, and to have a such a respected and national brand as A-Plan now announcing their support for us is fantastic news,” says John.
“I know that over the rest of the year Daniel and his colleagues at the Frome office will be looking at the different ways that they can help us, whether by donations or more direct help. What is also really encouraging is that whilst A-Plan are a well-known national brand, we shall be working with Daniel who has that very local knowledge, experience and background.
“Later in the year we shall be launching initiatives with our fantastic business community. It is great news to know that we can now count upon A-Plan as one more of our valued business community.”
