Following its hit run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Shoddy Theatre is bringing its slapstick comedy A Shoddy Detective and the Art of Deception to the Merlin Theatre in Frome on Saturday 29th April.
A bumbling detective is called upon to uncover the mystery of a priceless stolen painting, but when he cannot solve it himself, he is forced to enlist the help of an old nemesis. Together, the pair must interrogate the many characterful suspects that reside at the manor, in order to catch the conniving culprit and solve the crime of the century.
“New-kid-on-the-block theatre company, Shoddy Theatre, are taking the country by storm!” says the event organisers. “Their current Spring Tour is selling out in venues across the country, why? Because they’re offering everyone a good night out, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
“After turning the heads of many big timers in the entertainment industry, people have the opportunity to be a part of Shoddy Theatre’s rise to the top. Imagine being able to say “I saw them when they were just starting out”, pretty soon Shoddy will soon be a name on everyone’s lips.”
Shoddy Theatre was first established in 2018 when six, soon-to-be graduating actors from East 15 devised their final term show “The Art of Deception”. The show was such a hit that it was awarded funding from Essex University to become an established theatrical production company and that’s when Shoddy Theatre was born. Since then Shoddy have sold out their run at The Camden Fringe 2019 and The New Normal Festival 2020, plus a successful run at The Edinburgh Fringe.
The show is at the Merlin on Saturday 29th April, 7:30pm. Suitable for ages 8+ (contains sexual references and humour). For more details visit www.merlintheatre.co.uk or call 01373 465949.
