TWO youth productions come to the Merlin over the next few weeks, with a well-loved musical, plus a stage production of one of the 20th century’s iconic novels.
Selwood Academy bring their production of Bugsy Malone to the theatre from 21st-23rd June, with Allan Parker’s stage adaptation. Set in 1920s New York, the story follows the life of ex-boxer Bugsy Malone who is caught up in gang rivalry between Fat Sam and Dandy Dan. The show includes the Oscar-winning original score by Paul Williams including Bad Guys, My name is Tallulah and Fat Sam’s Grand Slam. Join Selwood as they dance, sing and splurge through this wonderful gangster caper, fun-packed and bursting with songs you’ll love!
On July 3rd and 4th, Frome College presents Lord of the Flies, a stage adaptation of the William Golding novel by Nigel Williams, which tells of events following a plane crash on a deserted island, where the only survivors are a group of school students. What starts as a desert island adventure, quickly descends into a struggle for survival in a darkly sinister world of superstition and immorality.
