A well-attended event to help inform the future of Saxonvale

More than 330 people attended the second round of public consultations for the regeneration of the Saxonvale site in Frome last month.  

Acorn Property Group took the opportunity to unveil the initial development proposals and to seek further feedback from the public. 

The development plans for the 10-acre former industrial site reflect suggestions and ideas gathered at the successful first public consultation in January. Acorn proposes a residential-led, mixed-use scheme of up to three hundred new homes and a variety of commercial spaces including offices, live-work units and other commercial space.  The design also includes a riverside-park, permeable public realm and a re-provided public car park.  

Working with Nash Partnership architects, regeneration specialist Acorn will now finalise an outline planning application, with a view to submitting it to the Local Planning Authority at the end of April. The application will be consulted on by the council as part of the planning process.

Derelict for 10 years, the Saxonvale site sits adjacent to the River Frome and is a short walk to the High Street. It was bought by Mendip District Council in 2018 in order to facilitate regeneration.

Acorn Property Group signed a ‘sale and overage agreement’ with Mendip District Council for the redevelopment of the site last autumn.
