Award-winning comedian Angela Barnes is due to perform in Frome this month at the Merlin Theatre with her new stand-up show, Angst.
The Mock the Week star will perform in the town on Friday 24th October with her new stand-up show as part of a countrywide tour.
Organisers say, “This hilarious show has some stories of success and sound logic, but mostly features stories of unmitigated failure, a distinct lack of wisdom, a little bit of German and loads of jokes.
“Angela is a worrier. Whatever it is, she’ll worry about it. But don’t let that worry you – she’ll worry enough for the both of you.
“Angela also has the most amazing story and there are so many interesting elements of her life that she discusses in the show. She left a career in health and social care when she moved into stand-up and has plenty of great stories about her previous work.
“She also received a couple of later in life diagnoses including ADHD and perhaps more interestingly synaesthesia. You may never have heard of it but it’s an incredible neurological condition where the stimulation of one of your senses leads to an automatic, involuntary experience in another sense. For example, someone might see a certain colour when they hear music or taste certain flavours when they see specific letters. As it’s a really unique condition, Angela has actually been studied by Sussex University and they’re writing a paper on her and the condition.”
Angela has also starred in BBC Two’s Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, House of Games, and Hypothetical on Dave. She is a firm favourite on BBC Radio 4, having featured on The Now Show and The News Quiz – including a recent stint as the host. She has also hosted BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack.
Her last tour Hot Mess received critical acclaim and was filmed as a special available on ITVX.
