Album release show for local band

LOCAL band Sweet Machine will be holding their second album launch at The Granary on Saturday 10th October.

The album, ‘1979’ is the band’s first in over 13 years, and they will play it in full at the show, as well as older material and an electro disco afterwards.

Owner of Frome record store Raves from the Grave, Richard Churchyard, is the keyboard player and a composer in the band.

Richard said, “We’re very excited about the new album – we’ve been playing the songs for a number of years but have had them recorded and pressed now. I’m looking forward to the show in Frome, too, as we don’t get the chance to play as often as we’d like.

“We have a good following in Frome and have played here a number of times at venues like The Wheatsheaves and Cheese & Grain.

“I think our music mainly appeals to people who grew up in the late 70s or 80s listening to Depeche Mode and the Human League, but there is always a good mix of people at our shows.”

Sweet Machine are an electro pop band inspired by the likes of Gary Numan and Depeche Mode. Since releasing their first album ‘Electric Soup’ in 2001 they have played across the UK.
