Join Hunting Raven Books for an evening of the worst sex imaginable as they delve/plunge/ thrust into the shortlist of this year’s Bad Sex in Fiction Award!
Since 1993, the Literary Review’s Bad Sex in Fiction Award has honoured an author who has produced an outstandingly bad scene of sexual description in an otherwise good novel. The purpose of the prize is to draw attention to poorly written, perfunctory or redundant passages of sexual description in modern fiction. The award was established by Rhoda Koenig, a literary critic, and Auberon Waugh, at that time editor of Literary Review.
The shortlist will be read by two of Frome Drama Club’s finest actors – Juanita Chedzoy and Laurie Parnell. It promises to be a thoroughly satisfying evening – the climax being an impassioned reading of the winner of the 2018 award.
The event will take place on Monday 3rd December in the shop, with twilight browsing and shopping from 6.30pm. The readings will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3 and can be reserved by calling 01373 473111, by emailing winstonebooks3@gmail.com or by popping into the shop.
