
AVON and Somerset Constabulary is appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in Frome.
The appeal follows an incident which took place on Thursday 30th June between 11.30pm and 11.40pm on Catherine Hill.
A police spokesperson said, “Two men left a local pub and were walking on Catherine Hill when one of the men was assaulted by a man who was part of a group of five men.
“The second victim stepped in and was also assaulted, causing him to fall to the ground.
“Police officers arrived at the scene but the group of five men had already left the area.
“Neither victim wanted to make a complaint and went home.
“Tragically, the second victim was found dead in bed the following morning. He has been formally identified as Hamish Howitt, 20, from Chichester.
“We are now asking the public to help us identify one of the men we believe was involved.
“He is described as a white man with brown hair and wearing beige trousers, white trainers and a distinctive yellow high visibility jacket.”
