Avon and Somerset Constabulary is appealing for witnesses and information after a small pool of blood was found on a road in Frome.
A member of the public reported finding a pool of blood on the ground at the junction of Horton Street and Robins Lane at around 9.45am on the morning of 31st August.
Upon arrival police also found there to be a small trail of blood towards Robins Lane. A vegetable-type knife and a pair of sunglasses were found in nearby guttering.
Police have been conducting enquiries to establish what has happened ever since and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
Neighbourhood inspector Tim Coombe said, “We are keeping an open mind as to how and why the blood got there and we continue to follow several lines of enquiry to establish what has happened. It is not certain a crime has been committed.
“The road was closed to allow for enquiries to be made at the scene and we’ve carried out an extensive search of the area; a dog unit and the police helicopter both assisted in the search.
“We’re appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have in relation to this incident. If you have suffered a recent injury in the area, or know someone who may have, or if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area during the early hours of the morning of 31st August, please contact us.”
