PURPLE Elephant, Frome’s home-grown charitable organisation which provides services for children and disadvantaged families, is reaching out to the town to act with generosity in this season of goodwill.
For Christmas, Purple Elephant will be offering a series of fun indoor family activity sessions, including Santa giving presents to over 170 local children, as well as providing healthy meals for them and their parents/carers, thanks to partner organisation, Fair Frome.
In addition to these creative family, party-style sessions, Purple Elephant are also gifting tickets for families to enjoy local Christmas theatre shows and take part in adventure sports activities.
In order to provide the activity sessions, entertainment, gifts, a team of qualified support workers and additional family support this Christmas, the organisation is requesting your help and generosity to deliver warmth, joy and food to in excess of 170 children and their parents/carers through six projects this December.
“While most children, thankfully, will be looking forward to a fabulous Christmas, some families in Frome will miss out on the fun. It won’t be the season of joy that we might hope, for many reasons,” said director of Purple Elephant, Sue Willis.
“Following the past year of hardship, some families won’t be getting presents or having a big Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Some will be cold, hungry, scared, isolated and continuing to struggle with the same issues that they face every single day of the year.
“It is truly shocking how many children are struggling in Somerset – right here in Frome. Please help us to support local families by donating via our website. Every small amount re- ally does help; if you can make a one-off gift of a few pounds or even a monthly small donation, we can continue to make some lives a bit less of a struggle, all year round. Thank you, Frome.”
In the past year alone, the Purple Elephant team, via its range of five charitable sup- port services, has supported over 800 local families on low income, with additional needs, or facing other forms of disadvantage.
