A LOCAL company making bags and accessories out of old aircraft seats launched its first range this week.
Plane Industries, which is based near Trowbridge and manufactures in Frome, uses seat fabric from aeroplanes and leather to make unique bags and cases.
It launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign on Monday, with its first items on sale.
Founders Ben and Harry Tucker also created Fallen Furniture, a furniture range made from old plane parts.
Ben said, “The seats have travelled around the world, had good days and bad, and now our aim is to give them a new lease of life.
“Each piece resonates with personality and history, but more importantly it stands for a better way of making by wasting less and using more of what’s already around us. We call it luxury waste.”
The range currently includes a rucksack, duffel bag, satchel, and laptop and phone cases. All are handmade in Frome.
