Frome’s Banking Hub is planning to move into the Westway Precinct after a planning application was submitted by Cash Access UK to Somerset Council.
The hub, currently operating from a temporary base in Frome Library, is to relocate to Unit 14 in Westway Precinct, which would be fitted out as a permanent banking hub with an ATM.
At the Frome Town Council planning meeting on 21st August, councillors unanimously supported the application.
Leader of the council, Cllr Fiona Barrows, said, “We all really want a banking hub in Frome, it’s great, brilliant.”
Sam Baker, Banking Hub Operator, said, “I am happy personally – I have seen these when they have been built and they are extremely professional. The ATM will bring absolute joy to Frome. We have ticked boxes by being in the library and this will tick a lot more boxes. The library is getting busier. I think people don’t quite trust it if I am honest because it’s in a library; it’s not as professional as it will look once it goes into its own permanent position.”
Unit 14 was formerly home to a Co-op store and, more recently, the Rotary of Frome’s charity shop.
