the next screening of the Batcombe film society will be on Friday 19th February.
‘The Salt Of The Earth’ – (dir. Wim Wenders and Juliano Salgado) 2014 / 110 mins / 12A – is a moving but ultimately life-affirming documentary portrait of the Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado made by Wim Wenders and Salgado’s son, Juliano.
Salgado’s early years were spent on a Brazilian farm and he trained as an economist but took up photography after borrowing his wife’s camera.
In his career he has travelled the world undertaking a range of projects, recording war zones, tribesfolk, workers and has now turned to environmental activism.
The film showcases his work and includes some truly stunning and memorable images.
