On Saturday 6th August at 7.45 pm at the Merlin Theatre, touring theatre company, Tic Tac Toe presents, The Scandalous Love of Oscar Wilde.
This one-man show imagines Wilde’s thoughts on the evening of the 6th April 1895, as he sat in his hotel room, awaiting arrest for gross indecency and a devastating fall from grace. The play stars Luke Stuart and is written by Calum Grant and directed by Geoff Hunt.
Brenda Bannister from the Merlin said, “Despite his great achievements in fiction, drama and poetry, (The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Importance of Being Ernest, The Ballad of Reading Gaol), Oscar Wilde’s life seems fated to eclipse his work, as we look back on it from our own, more liberal age.”
Tic Tac Toe have previously brought The Pillowman and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) to the Merlin. The Scandalous Love of Oscar Wilde has a recommended audience age of 12+ and a running time of 60 minutes. Tickets £10.50 and £9. http://www.merlintheatre.co.uk/whats-on/performances/the-scandalous-love-of-oscar-wilde/
