BATCOMBE Film Society’s new season of films continues with ‘Their Finest’ on Friday 3rd November at the Jubilee Hall.
The 2016 British war comedy-drama film, directed by Lone Scherfig and written by Gaby Chiappe, is based on the 2009 novel ‘Their Finest Hour and a Half’ by Lissa Evans.
In London during the Blitz, Catrin (Gemma Arterton) works as a copy- writer for The Ministry of Information but has difficulty in being taken seriously until she comes to the attention of a screenwriter, Buckley played by Sam Claflin.
They are charged with producing a film of derring- do to boost the nation’s morale but have to work with a makeshift cast and crew. It is a very British film of great warmth, wit and charm, with a host of character actors including Eddie Marsden, Helen McCrory and a star turn from Bill Nighy.
Doors open at 7.15pm, film starts at 7.45pm. Free parking, licensed bar and soft refreshments. Wheel-chair access, hearing loop. For details call Elizabeth Hunt on 01749 850304 or ehunt@mbzonline.net. Sponsored by At The Chapel.
