Bath Cats and Dogs Home are looking for new fosterers – people with experience of owning pets to give temporary homes, usually for eight weeks at one time – to a rescue animal that needs special care that can’t be provided in a kennel or cattery environment.
The cats and dogs home says, “Perhaps you love animals and have time available, but are not able to commit to having a pet permanently. Or you may work in blocks of time away and can help in the months that you are back at home.
“Fostering is not a trial to adopt, or an overflow from the kennels and catteries, but it is the need for a home environment for the animal’s best welfare at that time. As a fosterer, you will be an amazing part of these animals’ journey to a new forever home.”
Bath Cats and Dogs Home fosterer, Alex Corner said, “I absolutely love fostering, I have looked after so many amazing dogs for Bath Cats and Dogs Home, each with their own stories and personalities. Knowing I have made a huge positive impact on that dog’s life is so rewarding. And the best feeling ever – when they go to their new forever home and I know that I have been a part of that journey!”
The cats and dogs home continues, “These animals will still be available for adoption during the fostering period, so you will need to be flexible to bring them in to meet adopters at Bath Cats and Dogs Home, as well as for medical check-ups.
“We ask that you live close for fostering young animals, so you can reach the veterinary hospital in case of emergency. We will provide all equipment, food and veterinary care plus anything you need to make sure your foster pet settles in well with you.
“We have five fostering roles available, which include fostering stressed adult dogs, mums and young puppies, older puppies, mum cats and kittens and nervous adult cats.
“Fosterers are vital in changing the lives of some of our most vulnerable animals and Bath Cats and Dogs Home is desperate for more help.”
