THE team at Bath Cats and Dogs Home are asking the public to remember the vital work they continue to do working with animals in extreme need.
The animal care team are currently caring for 130 animals on-site. Whilst some members of the team can work from home, those key workers directly responsible for looking after the animals remain on site every day. As ever they are providing the very best care and animal welfare whist maintaining the required social distancing. Dogs continue to be walked in the spring sunshine and cats are being cared for and played with in their pods.
The home is no longer open to visitors and all public fosters have been put on hold. This is of course placing enormous pressure on the home’s work and their ability to open their door to potential animals in need.
Chief Executive Rachel Jones says “It’s an incredibly tough time for us. Naturally, all public-facing fundraising events have been postponed. Our charity shops across the county are closed and many of the ways we usually raise money to support our animals have been put on hold. We desperately need people to support us more than ever”.
The home is currently near to capacity and whilst Bath Cats and Dogs Home would never turn away an extreme cruelty case or an animal in dire need, it’s becoming more and more difficult for the home to operate in the current circumstances.
It costs £394 per month per kennel space and £128 for a cattery space.
The team promise that every penny donated to the home will help them to continue their vital work in caring for animals during the difficult months ahead.
