A colourful bonanza of growing is promised this weekend when one of the most sustainable gardening groups in the local area, the Frome Selwood Horticulture Society (FSHS), holds its 48th Annual Show on Saturday 27th August at Selwood Academy.
The society has been running since 1966, and with celebrations continuing to mark its 50th Golden Year, BBC journalist Sarah-Jane Bungay will be the guest of honour.
FSHS spokesperson Jane Norris says, “Sarah describes herself as a ‘Proud Frome girl, who loves nature, wildlife, holidays and red wine.’ She no doubt will appreciate the efforts that the members will have gone to, to work with nature when she returns to her past school to present prizes at 3.30pm.
“Our president Pam Secker describes the annual show as the ‘Showcase of the Society’, where members can share their love of gardening, growing, baking and capturing images on film, for all to see. With 101 classes and over 145 members, it is sure to be colourful, just a little competitive and above all, fun!
“Be part of this colour. Come along to your local FSHS Annual Show on Saturday. Doors open to the public at 1pm, and Sarah-Jane Bungay presents prizes at 3.30pm.”
