A LADY from Frome has celebrated her 103rd birthday with her family and care staff from Candlelight Care.
Pauline Varnals has lived in Frome for 30 years and currently lives with her daughter Sue in Critchill.
Pauline was joined by Sue, her son Christopher and daughter-in-law Jane, along with other members of her family, for a special get together to celebrate her birthday.
Candlelight Care staff Catherine Gibson and Mandy Shuckford and business director James Catley-Day also attended and presented Pauline with a card and flowers.
James said, “I think it was the best start to the day I have ever had at Candlelight. We have supported this lady since October 2013 when she was a mere slip of a lass, and one of our oldest care and support workers was there sharing this milestone with her. I was thrilled that I had the opportunity to share the special moment.”
Pauline Varnals, who was 103 on January 13th, is looked after by her daughter Sue, who works at Mole Valley Farmers at Standerwick, with help from Candlelight.
Born in Ealing, London, Pauline has lived in the West Country most of her life and has been in Frome for about 30 years. Her family originally moved from London to the Wells area.
She later married Maurice, a pharmacist from Oxford and he worked in Shepton Mallet, ending his working days at Boots the chemist. Maurice died in the 1970s.
Pauline has two grandchildren, Alistair and Zoe, and two great-grandchildren, Edward and Grace, who shares Pauline’s middle name.
