Each month, the Frome & District Probus Club organises a walk for its members.

Walker John Hedges said, “I really enjoy and value the monthly walk. We gather at a local pub, do the walk and end back at the pub for a well deserved lunch.
“Most of us are over 70 and it’s about right for us. We walk for 2 hours and cover around 4 miles; not too strenuous, but enough to exercise the body and of course enjoy the beauty of the countryside surrounding Frome. Some of us bring our wives, and friends of Probus join us too.
“Over the past year alone we have walked in Somerset, Wiltshire and the Bath area, we’ve walked across fields, hills and barrows, through woods, alongside streams, around local landmarks, in all weathers, cold, rain and glorious sun. They all bring their own particular pleasures.”
Frome Probus is a social group for retired professional and business men. The club holds a monthly meeting at The Standerwick Centre in Frome Market and, as well as walks, organises a number of activities such as theatre, days-out, skittles, quiz night, ladies’ lunch, etc.
Currently there is room for a few more members. Any man who feels it may be of interest and might like to join should contact Probus using the contact form on website, www.fromeprobus.co.uk
