BLACK Swan Arts in Frome is celebrating 30 years of promoting art in the town with a special exhibition.
The ‘30 Years, 30 Artists’ exhibition will be held from 26th November to 24th December and feature past and present studio holders from an eclectic mix of disciplines including ceramics, jewellery, painting, pottery and printmaking.
Centre manager Emma Warren said, ““We are at the centre of an incredibly creative community, with a constant stream of new artists arriving in the Frome area. For 30 years we have supported the arts and practitioners and we want to be able to continue to provide and capitalise on all this artistic energy.”
Black Swan Arts has, since dramatic cuts in funding in 2011, been run on a shoe-string by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Chair Amanda Sheridan says, “Over the past 30 years the Black Swan Arts centre has worked with hundreds of people; talented artists and makers; trustees past and present have seen it through some pretty shaky times helped by dedicated staff.
“Most importantly we have been sustained by our fantastic volunteers without whom the Swan would quite simply sink. After all these years of dedication, we deserve to see the Centre go on for another 30.”
