SOMERSET Sight held a special meeting in Frome last month to celebrate the efforts of its local volunteers.
Somerset Sight, the only local independent charity supporting people with sight loss in Somerset, held a meeting at Asda to thank its volunteer visitors for all their support of blind and partially sighted people in the surrounding area.
Russell Parsons, who is totally blind after being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa in his teens, attended as the speaker at the meeting.
Volunteer visitor co-ordinator Claire Packwood said, “Russell talked inspirationally about how he has coped emotionally and practically with his sight loss over the years telling many funny stories about his experiences over the years.
“Somerset Sight awarded certificates and plaques to some volunteer visitors as a thank you for all their support.”
