A LOCAL boy who is a leader in Frome Rugbytots, has been awarded a Blue Peter Silver Badge for his efforts in helping others in the club.
Five-year-old Hugo I’Anson is part of the leadership programme where he has helped younger children and other coaches.
“I liked helping the little children and being called ‘Coach Hugo’ and I was so excited when I got my Blue Peter badge, it sparkles and I liked showing it off at school,” he said.
His mother, Sally I’Anson said the leadership programme has helped Hugo’s confidence, “It has been a fantastic opportunity for Hugo, who is shy and lacks self-confidence. Being ‘Coach Hugo’ made him feel so proud; it has been a huge boost to his self-esteem, giving him the confidence to join in more in his regular classes.”
The Rugbytots club said, “Hugo is a Rugbytots leader and he has been awarded an extremely special Blue Peter silver badge for his achievement! We couldn’t be prouder.”
Rugbytots is a rugby initiative which offers dynamic weekly play sessions in Frome for boys and girls aged two to seven.
The Blue Peter Silver Badge is awarded to people who show individual acts of kindness; to earn a badge, people must show kindness by doing something in their community, or to help another person.
