Dorothy House Hospice Care is running its biggest annual charity Christmas Tree Collection fundraiser in partnership with the Justhelping charity.
Their supporters and volunteers will pick up real Christmas trees for a charitable donation between 10th-12th January 2020 in 13 local postcodes including BA11 – Frome.
In January 2019 the Hospice’s Christmas Tree Collection doubled the funds raised to £26,000 and Dorothy House hopes to increase this sum in January 2020.
Taking part is easy, visit www.charityxmastree collection.com type in your postcode to check that your area is covered, make a donation and list where your tree will be located. Dorothy House asks for a donation to help fund the specialist palliative and end of life care services provided by the hospice free of charge.
All trees must be clearly marked with a label saying ‘Dorothy House’ and trees can be collected from businesses, schools, churches and homes. A percentage of trees will be chipped and shredded to make reusable materials for the community.
Over Christmas, 50 carers from Dorothy House and their ‘Hospice at Home’ service will travel more than 6,000 miles and carry out in excess of 200 home visits. This service provides nearly 2,000 hours of care to our community, giving patients and their families the precious memory of Christmas together at home.
Steph Cox, from Dorothy House said, “This is our fourth Christmas tree collection and we’re looking forward to helping local people recycle their used Christmas trees, while also raising vital funds for Dorothy House. A big thank you to all our volunteers and our supporters for their generous help.”
Eligible postcodes for the January 2020 Christmas tree collection are BA1, BA2, BA3, BA4, BA11, BA12, BA13, BA14, BA15, SN12, SN13, SN14 and SN15.
Dorothy House’s Christmas Tree Collection scheme is supported by many local businesses providing volunteers and vehicles including Wessex Water, Rygor and Bath ASU, Brett Hardy Landscapes, Go Self Drive, Islington Motors, Corsham patio and fencing, Autoguide and Geoghegan Builders.
