Sat. 27th July. West of England Premier Cricket League – WEPL Somerset Wembdon 123-all out Frome 126-5
Frome followed up last week’s victory with another away win against Wembdon.
After losing the toss, the showmen claimed 4 early wickets, leaving Wembdon 55-4. Barton (2-35), R Croker (4-36), Lett (2-37) and M Sanger (2-9) reduced the opposition to a total of 123, with Croker gaining the final two wickets in two consecutive deliveries.
Frome began their run chase with P Sanger (8) and R Croker (17) as the usual opener Lett suffered an injury as a result of catching the last wicket off Croker. The showmen did not have the best start despite the low total, as S Croker (10) also fell, leaving the score at 49-3. Veal (20) and Lewis’ (25) 42 partnership boosted Frome’s total, leaving the remaining runs to be chased by Unwin (21no) and Smith (13no). It was the showmen’s bowling which won the game, securing their lead at the top of the league to 62 points. The showmen travel away to second place Chard next Saturday 3rd August (12.30pm).
