Frome saxophone player, Vicki Burke, is to bring her Bristol-based band, Flash Harry to The Corner House on Sunday 21st February.
Flash Harry has been delighting Bristol crowds for almost 30 years and have a background of playing with some of the best performers and bands in the Bristol area.
Flash Harry’s musical heritage includes members who have worked with the likes of Vivian Stanshall, Doreen Doreen and K-Passa amongst others.
Vicki Burke who moved to Frome three years ago and also plays locally with Frome Funk band ‘Fat Stanley’ has been keen to get the five-piece band down to Frome since playing a small charity event at last year’s Frome festival.
Flash Harry’s heady mix of fast folk, Cajun, blues and gypsy jazz fits fantastically in pub venues and The Cornerhouse is the perfect venue with is reputation for putting on a wide range of musical styles and its excellent atmosphere.
Martin Earley from The Cornerhouse said, “We always try to put on something different, it’s taken a while to get Flash Harry here but now we have them booked, we are looking forward to a fabulous evening, I expect some dancing and singing along, which is always the sign of a good pub band.”
Vicki Burke said, “Since moving here to Frome it’s been my ambition to get the band down to The Cornerhouse, I love those early Sunday evening gigs there.
“The band are pretty excited, we’ve been stretching our wings in recent years with gigs in Devon, Cornwall, Ireland and further afield and it’s great that after so many years we still enjoy playing live and performing at new venues. I hope that Frome turns out to support this gig, it’s going to be fun.”
Flash Harry will play at The Cornerhouse on Sunday February 21st at 7pm, the gig ends at 9pm and entry is free, however the hat will be passed round during the evening.
