FROME Town Rotary have donated £1,000 to Shared Earth Leaning.
Shared Earth supports children, young people and adults to access outdoor learning or a calm space in nature to cope with difficulties or just being outdoors and enjoying the environment.
Club president Becky Bird met with volunteers from the organisation and provisions coordinator Alex Hart at the Rotary charity shop in the Westway Precinct to make the presentation.
Frome Town Rotary have also supported Shared Earth Learning in practical tasks throughout the past year including tree planting, mulching and improving pathways and drainage on site.
Becky Bird said, “Frome Town Rotary’s focus this year is supporting youth services in and around Frome, and this is a valuable resource for our children and young people. It is accessible to all and such a positive experience, run by a lovely team of staff and volunteers.
“We would also like to thank everyone who is supporting our pop-up charity shop and encourage you to keep coming. All money raised is going directly back into the community.”
Alex Hart said, “Shared Earth Learning were over the moon to receive a cheque for a whopping £1,000. We are going to use this to buy the materials for our raised beds, pay volunteer expenses, purchase some more tools and finish our wildlife pond”.
Co-director Sam O’Malley added, “Having this money means we can focus on the activities rather than scrimping around for resources. We’re really excited to use this money to offer days during the summer holidays for young people to come and help improve our site while learning some more skills”.
